For this edition, we chatted to ArtHouse galleries who have recently opened up in Kingston. We chat to them about their unique concept and delve deep into what you can expect from them when you pop in.
ArtHouse Galleries latest affordable art shop is now open at the Bentall Centre , showcasing the work of 10 different Surrey and SW London based artists plus 8 ceramicists.
The concept of these artist led galleries was started by Kate Winskill, who studied fine art and fashion at Kingston College and Kingston University. She explains,
“We started ArtHouse as a way to find more affordable avenues for artists to sell their work directly to the public . Both my sons , Rory and Raph Thomas , are artists, so it really is a family concern!
“We love being in the heart of shopping centres. We want original art to be an an an accessible and affordable purchase- with a piece for everyone.
“Our galleries our manned by the artists and customers are buying directly from them , so there is no middleman commission . So come and say hello ! “ says Kate.
The new ArtHouse Galleries is open daily from now until end of March 2024. Artworks include original paintings, collages & limited edition prints on a range of subjects from landscapes, abstracts, portraits, pop art to photography and surrealism.
Ceramics include necklaces , statement vases and affordable pots for everyday use.
Staffed by the artists, many of whom have work in public and private collections worldwide, the temporary gallery offers the atmosphere of an art fair in the convenient position of the Bentall Centre.
With over 500 different artworks on offer , priced from £12-£2000 the new store is the perfect place for art lovers to browse original art and maybe start or add to their art collection whilst meeting the artists who produced it!
All customers will be able to take advantage of free local delivery service, which allows customers to have large pictures delivered direct to their door. Staged payments are possible on more expensive pieces . Just ask the artists!
