This week we hear from Asian food supremoes and Clarence Street staples Itsu, whose food continues to fill hungry Kingstonian bellies all year round.
We chat about their love of the Kingston community, plus an insight into their ‘health and happiness’ range. Plus you can finally find out just what ‘Itsu’ actually means!
The first Itsu restaurant opened its doors in 1997, after recognising a need for healthy, nutritious fast food, and since then we’ve opened many more shops including the Kingston one in 2016.
We love to be part of the Kingston community, and Thumbs Up Its Thursday is a great way to bring families into the store, so the children can do our colouring sheets. We are also very proud to be the most redeemed offer on the Keep It Kingston App!
Most of our Asian-inspired ‘health & happiness’ dishes are under 500 [good] calories and are packed with vitamins, fibre & protein, and over a third are plant-based. Itsu Kingston has its own kitchen team making nutritious dishes which are steamed (not fried) and made on the spot each and every day, with responsibly sourced ingredients, as well as the front of house team, who take care of our customer’s needs.
Our modern menu is perfect for sharing – light and packed with protein, wholegrain brown rice, and vegetables. Each of the hot pots contains up to 15 different fibre-rich nutritious greens, herbs and aromatics.
Plus.. did you know that Itsu means ‘whenever’ in Japanese?- representing what food on the go is all about – eating beautiful food, beautifully done, each and every day.
You can find Itsu at 22 Clarence Street
