Restart Grants : A Quick Guide

Who Is Eligible?

The Restart Grants are designed to support the reopening of business that pay business rates in the following sectors (as defined by the government):

• • Non-essential retail
  • Leisure
  • Hospitality
  • Gym & Sport
  • Personal Care
  • Accommodation

The funding is only open to those trading on 1st April 2021.

What Can I Get?

Non-essential retail ratepayers occupying a property on 1 April 2021:

• • with a rateable value of £15,000 or less, will receive a payment of £2,667
  • with a rateable value over £15,000 and less than £51,000, will receive a payment of £4,000
  • with a rateable value of £51,000 or more, will receive a payment of £6,000

Hospitality, Accommodation, Leisure, Personal Care, Gym and Sports ratepayers occupying a property on 1 April 2021:

• • with a rateable value of £15,000 or less, will receive a payment of £8,000
  • with a rateable value over £15,000 and less than £51,000, will receive a payment of £12,000
  • with a rateable value of £51,000 or more, will receive a payment of £18,000

When can I apply?

Applications opened on 12th April, and it has now been announced that applications for the scheme will close on 30th June. Therefore, we suggest that you apply as soon as practically possible.

How To Apply

To apply, you must complete the form on the Kingston Council website, which you can find here.

Before you apply:

• • Note that the liable business ratepayer will need to complete the application
  • Remember, you will need to provide evidence on application, and you cannot save the application. So you should have the evidence to hand when submitting the application.
