Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (Fifth Grant)

In this guide, we will detail exactly what we know about the grant so far, and will keep this updated once we have the full guidance. We will of course also let you know when applications open in late July.

Who Is Eligible?

To be eligible for the grant you must be self-employed or a member of a partnership. In order to claim the grant, you must also fit the below criteria:

• You must have traded in the tax years 19/20 and 20/21.
• You must be currently trading but are impacted by reduced demand due to coronavirus or have been trading but are temporarily unable to do so due to coronavirus
• To work out your eligibility for the fifth grant, they will first look at your 2019 to 2020 Self Assessment tax return. Your trading profits must be no more than £50,000 and at least equal to your non-trading income. If you’re not eligible based on your 2019 to 2020 tax return, they’ll then look at the tax years 16/17, 17/18, 18/19 and 19/20.
• You must also declare that you intend to continue to trade and that you reasonably believe there will be a significant reduction in your trading profits due to reduced business activity, capacity, demand or inability to trade due to coronavirus from May 2021 to September 2021

What Can I Get?

The amount of the grant will be determined by how much your turnover was reduced in the period April 2020 – April 2021.

When can I apply?

The online claims service will be available from Late July 2021. We will update this article when firm dates are confirmed.

However, if you’re eligible based on your tax returns, you should be contacted in mid-July 2021.
