Companies across Kingston are celebrating making the shortlist of the 2019 Kingston Business Excellence Awards in association with Willmott Dixon. A record number of entries – many from businesses new to the awards – were received for this sixth annual programme. The shortlist of more than 90 will now progress to the next round, which involves the entrants
being interviewed by independent judging panels.
Established to recognise the successes and achievements of the Royal Borough’s business community, the awards are organised by the Kingston First, Royal Borough of Kingston, and the Kingston Chamber of Commerce. Praising the ‘very high quality’ of entries in 2019, shortlist adjudicator Paul Hadfield commented: “The scale and depth of talent this year demonstrates that businesses in
Kingston are thriving. We received submissions from a number of outstanding and innovative businesses who are market leaders in their field, as well as other small and medium sized businesses that are not only trading nationally and internationally, but are also highly competitive, growing and creating jobs for local people.”
Paul was impressed by the number of entrants new to the awards. He also found that several categories were particularly hotly contested, including those featuring retail, and food
and beverage businesses. He said: “This year we had a high number of businesses and entrepreneurs who hadn’t previously entered the awards. There were also many excellent independent retailers, restaurants, cafes and local businesses much loved by the community.”
The shortlisted businesses now progress to the second round of judging which will involve an interview with an independent panel of judges. The winners will be exclusively announced at the glittering Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony, hosted by TV presenter Michael Underwood at the luxurious Ravens Ait island venue on Thursday, 10th October, 2019. The 2019 Kingston Business Excellence Awards are sponsored by headline partner Willmott Dixon, Kingston First, Kingston Council, Kingston Chamber of Commerce, CNM Estates, HR Department, Kingston University, Kingston College and McDonald’s. They are supported by IQinIT, Insight6, Time and Leisure and Kingston Burrowes Accountants. To sponsor a category, please contact Vivien Newbould at vnewbould@kingstonawards.co.uk.
